About the Program
Hillcrest's Adult Residential Services operates several 3-5 bed group homes and a 60+ bed care facility for adults who have a mental health diagnosis. Serving as a stepping stone from hospitalizations to independent living, these programs provide supervision in a safe, secure, and protected environment, with the following support:
- 24 hour staffing and supervision
- Individual counseling and care coordination
- Mental health support
- Medication management
- Social and community integration
- Physical and emotional health development
- Recreational activities (structured and unstructured)
- Daily living skills education and instruction
Your Responsibilities
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), your primary responsibility is to provide aid to people who suffer from a variety of disabilities. In addition, you will:
- Keep the patient safe from health hazards
- Monitor individuals behavior toward themselves and others, and maintain patients' records of progress
- Help individuals with tasks like cooking, cleaning, showering, toileting, shopping, and managing money
- Listen to report before or soon after the start of your shift, and pass along report to oncoming staff
- Assist with choke patrol, ensure oversite of eating and diet adherence, and collaborate with nursing for concerns
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED or NCR accepted) required
- Medication Manager/Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 4 months of employment, and maintain CPR/First Aid certification
What Makes You Stand Out
- Prior experience working with adults who have chronic mental illness
- Valid drivers license and ability to meet agency driving requirements
- Prior experience with health care documentation
