Job Overview

As the Director of Field Operations at Crescent Electric, you will seek to build the best support program possible to ensure top performance by our branch locations. This is a national-level position with a broad geographical area of responsibility.

In this role, you will be responsible for the processes, organizational structure, systems, and tools used to efficiently execute and lead the field operations as it relates to opening, maintaining, and auditing of field sites, including coaching for expected performance metrics and maintaining the brand standard.  As the leader of field operations, you ensure prompt follow-through on district correspondence, complaints and inquiries related to the shipment of merchandise and stock-on-hand.  You manage people and capacity to a budget and align resources across the network to meet the needs of the business.

You will be the head of the field operations leadership team and responsible for casting the vision, strategy, and tactical plans to achieve operational excellence. To be successful, you must be people first leader, inspire the operations team, mentor, and advise best practices alongside their teams. You support the Supply Chain Leadership Team with major initiatives including expansion and optimization of field inventories, change management associated with the implementation of a new hub and spoke distribution platform, and major enhancements to our reporting and analytical capabilities using Business Intelligence software.  You develop an expert understanding of the business model and processes within all Supply Chain functions to become a driver of change within the department. You report to the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Implement and enhance consistent standardized operating practices that are aligned with the Company’s initiatives and expectations.

  • Develop an effective front-line leadership team and assist them with developing their direct reports as to drive a high-performance culture and environment.

  • Lead an innovative, collaborative work team to produce exceptional results delivering the customer experience.

  • Ensures safety is the top priority in the organization and that personnel are following regulations such as OSHA, EPA, DOT and company procedures related to HAZMAT handling, certifications, and registrations.

  • Implement company-wide initiatives and direct CESCO field operations including fulfillment and service as well as workforce management.

  • Responsible for implementing and tracking quality improvements across field locations as measured by the company-wide field operations metrics.

  • Partner with the Supply Chain Leadership Team to identify priority work and lead your team to deliver impactful solutions that support operational efficiencies and improved decisions within Field Operations.

  • Directs achievement of performance objectives related to productivity, quality, service and safety.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and five to seven years leadership experience in a distribution or field branch operations environment.

  • Knowledge of all functional areas in the wholesale electrical distribution industry preferred.

  • Prior experience managing a department budget.

  • Evidence of ability to reengineer processes and the associated change management process.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Individual must possess strong, comprehensive PC skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook products). Must have the ability to work quickly and accurately under time constraints and against deadlines. Also, must possess interpersonal and organizational skills, be a self-starter, be detail oriented, and communicate effectively (verbal and written).

  • Strong organization skills for control of order management tracking across the network of branches and distribution locations.

  • Ability to travel throughout the CESCO territory.
