Your Responsibilities

As the Director of Human Resources, you will play a vital role in the growth of our organization as we enhance and expand the colleague experience. Initiative, coupled with an intense passion for people and culture and the ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions, is the key to achieving the performance objectives of this job. Must possess values of integrity and humility, be independent, relational, growth-minded, organized, a critical thinker, and have a great understanding of how to collaborate with all business functions to elevate business performance and grow our team.

 

In addition, you will:

  • Direct and instruct the management staff in effective recruiting and interviewing techniques to ensure the hiring and retention of qualified and effective employees.
  • Ensure that employees are developed and utilized to their maximum potential through the implementation, administration, and monitoring of all training programs.
  • Monitor the employee performance appraisal programs to ensure reviews are timely.
  • Direct and administer employee relations programs and activities such as employee recognition and service award ceremonies, social functions, and general meetings to maintain a positive employee relations climate.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, as well as regulations and court rulings, which pertain to Human Resources by reviewing current management, practices, implementing new procedures, and communicating any new requirements.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and coordination of policies, procedures and programs covering critical HR initiatives including talent acquisition, compliance, performance management, team culture, compensation/incentive plans, and communications.
  • Directly involved in high level talent acquisition including screening, interviewing, and onboarding for current and future leadership positions.
  • Manage and enhance colleague benefits programs, including compensation, health insurance, retirement, and other benefit offerings. Responsible for ongoing evaluation of benefits and costs, preparing renewals, conducting annual audits, and ensuring compliance with all programs.
  • Identify and recommend areas of improvement to internal standard operating procedures, including team restructuring and culture.
  • Management of the HR department to provide the highest level of service to the rest of the organization.
  • Champion the onboarding process, ensuring the process is up to date and of high quality, providing clarity and connection for all employees and their role in relation to the overall vision of the organization.
  • Develop and execute strategies for internal development of managers and colleagues at all levels of the corporation including coaching, team culture, colleague engagement, empowerment, and continuous evaluation.
  • Support departments in the development and delivery of strategic initiatives to fit with the overall business direction and enhance the colleague experience.
  • Establish strategies for fostering company core values; Trustworthiness, Compassion for all, Collaboration, and Community Involved.
  • Establish guidelines and procedures for the successful resolution of all conflicts, including appropriate disciplinary action if needed.
  • Perform all duties with the highest degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.

 

What You Need

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five to Seven years of experience in human resources, non-profit experience a plus
  • Job experience or coursework relating to legal compliance
  • Experience in a unionized environment is a plus

  • Ability to deal effectively with all employees and employee representatives through patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures, as well as considerable knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters.
