Responsibilities

As the Director of Nursing (DON), you will collaborate with members of Hillcrest's nursing and administration team as well as with physicians/ARNP's. In addition, you will:

  • Supervise and schedule nursing staff
  • Work as an RN on the floor as needed
  • Participate in on call rotation for crisis situations/PRN med approvals to include evenings, weekends and holiday call
  • Provide input for the revision and development of policies, procedures, forms, and protocols
  • Monitor staff compliance and use corrective actions as necessary with appropriate approvals
  • Serve on Exposure/Infection Control Committee of Hillcrest Family Services
  • Maintain awareness of licensing and certification standards and assists in operating the facility within these standards
  • Participate in the screening process of referrals and make recommendations regarding admissions
  • Oversee charting for adverse med reactions/communicate adverse reactions to PCPs and psych as needed
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the facility administrator/director or VP of Adult Residential

What You Need

  • Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current Iowa licensure in good standing pursuant to 655-Chapter 3
  • At least one (1) year of prior experience working with persons with mental illness and other clients typically served at a Community Mental Health Center
  • Knowledge on psychotropic medications, DSM-IV diagnosis, and co-occurring disorders
  • Proficiency in time management and EHR documentation
  • Demonstration of a professional commitment to providing services to medically underserved individuals
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position
