Job Overview
MedOne Pharmacy Benefit Solutions is looking to hire a Director of Pharmacy for our Mail-Order/Specialty Pharmacy located in Dubuque, Iowa. The Director of Pharmacy is expected to be an inspiring leader who effectively manages and grows our Mail-Order/Specialty business. To ensure success, the Pharmacist should be confident and professional with strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills that will contribute to the efficient day-to-day activities of MedOne Pharmacy Services. Top candidates will have the desire to support and manage a team of pharmacists, technicians, and support staff while being a strategic leader for the service line.
Essential Job Functions

Leader and quarterback in enabling growth of pharmacy

Develop and execute goals, plans and tactics to ensure pharmacy continuously improves in size and profitability

Coordinate and manage external relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, third-party payors and organizations related to specialty pharmacy

Responsible for providing leadership, mentoring and supervision to all staff in the pharmacy and fulfills duties as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC)

Responsible for enacting policies and procedures to ensure and maintain compliance with state and federal laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy, including but not limited to non-resident and resident licensure requirements, drug storage, drug delivery, and patient safety requirements

Obtain and maintain all required pharmacy licenses and permits required for the pharmacy and responsible for maintaining all licenses in good standing

Assures appropriate pharmacy operations by maintaining optimal staffing, reconciling claim payments, coordinating contracts, and continually identifying and implementing performance improvement opportunities

Direct pharmacy support staff and technicians in the daily activities as it pertains to clinical and distributive activities

Responsible for quality assurance and accurate tracking of all medications, including specialty pharmacy products, prior to dispensing and delivery

Perform duties related to drug utilization review including concurrent, retrospective, and prospective components

Monitor, measure and report the health outcomes and progress of patients in response to drug therapy

Provide member communications related to drug-therapy plans, plan requirements, medication counseling, and medication therapy management services

Manage the daily operations of the pharmacy, which include product preparation, product verification, packaging, and shipping of prescriptions

Provide clinical expertise to physicians, pharmacists, and specialty pharmacy providers on behalf of patients and clients

Assist in the clinical functions of MedOne Pharmacy Benefit Solutions, including supporting the clinical review/prior authorization process and disease state management programs as needed

Provide input regarding clinical content of new programs and maintenance of existing programs

Assist the VP of Clinical Services, in addition to other MedOne team members with general business operations

Requirements
-
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD with current unrestricted licensure as a RPh in the State of Iowa or the ability to gain licensure within 4 months of employment

Unrestricted licensure as a RPh in all states requiring such pharmacist licensure for pharmacy licensure, or the ability to gain licensure within 1 year of employment

High degree of emphasis on problem-solving skills, including identifying and accepting a challenging situation and creating and implementing a solution

Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on attention to detail

Excellent internal and external customer service skills

Ability to work with a team

Have a general understanding of and perform in compliance with all applicable accreditation standard practices including URAC standards, ACHC, NCQA, NABP digital pharmacy

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Prior Director, Manager, and/or PIC experience highly preferred

Knowledge of the PBM industry, formulary management, pharmacy claims and managed care principles and practices is preferred

Residency experience is preferred
