Position is for the Dubuque Endoscopy Center
Grand River Medical Group is seeking a motivated and detail oriented Endoscopy Technician to work in our Endoscopy Unit. Candidate will assist physicians with procedures and maintenance of scopes post procedure.
The ideal candidate would possess strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of professionalism. You will be committed to providing high quality care to every patient in a fast paced setting. You will be part of the interdisciplinary team with nurses, technicians, and gastroenterologist.
This is a full-time position, 35-40 hours per week, with no evening or weekend requirements. Endoscopy Technicians typically work between 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with preparation of the room setup before procedure including the planning and ordering of all supplies needed.
- Assist the clinician/nurse during endoscopy procedures as directed by the clinician/nurse.
- Help clinician/nurse to maintain patient safety through monitoring endoscopy technique during the procedures.
- Maintain accountability for all endoscopy equipment (i.e., scopes and instruments).
- Assist with manual daily sterilization of equipment, instruments and supplies. Clean endoscopes according to procedure. Monitor biological indicator strip on each scope and record results.
- Help with medical record filing, ordering and stocking supplies. Participate in cleaning and restocking of surgical rooms. Communicate supply and equipment repairs to Endoscopy Nurse Coordinator.
Education/Experience/Skills:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Graduate of an operating room technician program highly desirable.
- Six months to one-year experience in a multi-specialty operating room preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - required.
