Job Overview
Applicants for this on-site position will be responsible for overseeing a team of highly skilled engineering staff and their activities in various projects placing particular emphasis on research and development with the objective of developing new product lines and streamlining existing product lines. The Engineering Manager provides input & feedback to management on new technology and regulations to set strategic future plans.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the engineering department.
- Directs drafting department in preparation of drawings, procedures, sketches, etc. necessary for the development of new products.
- Responsible for research and development of new product lines.
- Prepares research and development requests and justifications.
- Assists the manufacturing departments in the development of processes necessary to produce the product.
- Conducts a continuous search of new materials, processes, and procedures to enhance and improve the product lines.
- Prepares budget and schedules for the development of new product lines. Maintains system of budget and schedule control.
- Assists marketing in sales presentations, catalogs, and general advertising literature.
- Provides project feasibility studies, cost estimates and developmental timelines.
- Contacts with persons inside and outside the company where matters discussed require resourcefulness, tact, and a working knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures.
- Works with suppliers and customers to establish clear direction and needs.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of five years in Research and Development Engineering in related field.
- Sound knowledge of engineering theory and design criteria.
- Strong analytic and communication skills (verbal/written).
- Must be familiar with a variety of manufacturing processes, material selection, and product testing in addition to sketching, layout, and drafting work.
