Job Overview
The Engineering department plays a critical role in our company. The Engineering Manager will lead and oversee our engineering team. They will be responsible for developing new product lines, determining the scope of work required and ensuring the cost-effectiveness of all projects we undertake. This includes the engineering and design features of each job. The Engineering Manager requires an onsite presence as well as a hands-on approach. This position has manifested itself as our organization reallocates tasks and roles in anticipation of company growth.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the Engineering department, including:
- project management
- new project development
- risk analysis
- personnel oversight, training, development and providing technical advice.
- Design and configure technically complex bills of materials, work instructions, and schematics (electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic) as required.
- Develop and refine engineering processes, standards and associated documentation to increase efficiency and productivity while maintaining and improving quality.
- Troubleshoot issues and provide technical oversight to the production teams to ensure resolution in a timely manner.
- Perform product cost analysis to ensure the continuous improvement of product lines including searching for new materials and updating processes.
- Assist in budget development for the department.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably in an automotive or truck manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of experience working with mobile equipment.
- Strong leadership skills to include supervision, development, delegation to and motivation of the engineering team.
- FEA is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in the use of design software, preferably Inventor.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to facilitate, support, implement and quickly adapt to change.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of hydraulics, electrical, automotive, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to work in a small office setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and move items weighing approximately 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and scaffolds.
