Medical Associates is hiring a part-time Environmental Services/Housekeeper for our office in Elizabeth, Illinois.

The Position: Housekeeping is responsible for regular upkeep and cleaning of public spaces including bathrooms, waiting rooms, staff spaces, and will answer pages when needed.

Schedule: Flexible schedule between the hours of 2:00 pm-5:00 am, two to three days per week. Typically Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings for a total of 6 hours per week.

Duties include:

• Clean contaminated areas and surfaces from floor to ceiling throughout the clinic utilizing universal precautions to sanitize and sterilize.
• Collect and dispose of general and biohazard waste.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets.
• Laundering housekeeping supplies and materials.
• Order and stock supplies for cleaning as well as restrooms and breakroom areas throughout facilities.
• Identify and report any unsafe/unsanitary conditions to supervisor.
• Maintain equipment, submitting online maintenance request for repairs as necessary.
• Collect soiled and contaminated linens, lifting can include up to 30 pounds.
• Complete all other assigned projects and duties

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education: Equivalent to a high school education.

Experience: From three months to one year of similar or related experience.

Interpersonal Skills: Normal courtesy in dealing with others is required. Work involves minimal contacts, usually
within the organization. Contact usually involving routine, non-sensitive issues.

Other: Requires exposure to harsh cleaning fluids and toxic chemicals. Exposure to contaminated
wastes and bodily fluids. Operate vacuum and floor machines.

Physical Aspects:

Stooping - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Kneeling - Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Crouching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Standing - Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Walking - Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

Pushing - Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

Pulling - Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Feeling - Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.

Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.

Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction.

Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
