Fuel Director

Job Overview

Job Summary 

Reporting to the Chief Maintenance Officer, the Fuel Director at Hirschbach Motor Lines is responsible for analyzing data to achieve best in class insights into fuel pricing, fuel economy, idle time and working closely with Operations and Drivers to stabilize cost savings with maximizing operational efficiencies.  

Duties & Responsibilities 

• Works closely with the Chief Maintenance Officer and other Fuel personnel on fuel strategy – fuel economy, out-of-route miles, idle performance, fuel stop compliance behavior to network, and overall financial impact on operating company.  

• Works with Operations and Drivers on reducing idle time and fuel stop compliance, while also developing an authorized list of fuel stops. 

• Develops and provides training to Operations and Drivers. 

• Develops and provides reports showing performance in key areas while also identifying problems through analysis and creating sustainable solutions that influence key decision makers and Drivers on operational improvement.  

• Analyzes fuel data using methods such as mining, data modeling or cost or benefit analysis.  

• Applies analytic methods or tools to understand, predict, or control fuel logistics operations or processes.  

• Analyzes KPIs to improve operating and financial performance for Hirschbach’s operating companies.  

• Other duties as assigned including proactively assisting others in achieving the organization’s objectives.  

Talent Requirements and Skills 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain, or related field is preferred. 

• 3 years of transportation experience is preferred, paired with other relevant professional experience.  

• Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy and energy. 

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.  

• Computer proficiency and ability to navigate between multiple programs.  

• Knowledge of Power BI or similar dashboard products preferred 

• Demonstrates an "All In to Win" attitude and displays self-motivation and a strong desire to learn within an unpredictable and demanding environment.
