Job Overview
The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a Full-time Faculty in the Physician Assistant Program for fall of 2025.
Position Summary:
Create and deliver face-to-face evidence-based lectures utilizing a variety of instructional methods, evaluate and assess student performance, assist in lab teaching and demonstration, and advise students.
Primary Responsibilities:
Mission
- Support in principle and practice the Mission of the University and PA Program
Teaching and Advising
- Teach 24 credit hours per academic year as assigned by the Department
- Deliver relevant and current curriculum using a variety of teaching methods and standardized tools that accurately reflect effectiveness of course content
- Develop new courses or curricula or revise existing ones when appropriate
- Regularly evaluate teaching methods and use data to continually improve instructional strategies
- Maintain knowledge of roles, responsibilities and scope of practice of PA profession
- Serve as an academic advisor and mentor to students, providing guidance on performance, professionalism, and career goals
- Maintain regular office hours to support students outside of class
Scholarship and Professional Development
- Actively participate in academic and clinical scholarship, including but not limited to obtaining grant funding, article submissions, presentations, publications, peer review, and/or monitoring student research
- Maintain an active clinical practice with an average of 6 hours per week
- Maintain any required professional certifications or licensure in the appropriate discipline
Service
- Attend all department meetings, faculty meetings, and program events
- Serve on academic and/or University-wide committees
- Participate in ongoing assessment of the academic and administrative aspects pf the program through departmental meetings and committees
- Assist in program accreditation requirements and activities
- Other duties as assigned by the VPAA's office or department head in support of the University's Mission

- Communicate clearly and effectively with students and provide timely feedback on assignments

Qualifications:
- Graduate Degree in a healthcare-related area (PA-C, MD, DO)
- PAs must hold current NCCPA certification, a Master's Degree, and be eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa
- Two or more years of clinical experience is required
- Prior teaching in a PA program and prior precepting experience is preferred
