POSITION DESCRIPTION
GAME TECHNICIAN
BASIC FUNCTION
Maintain and repair slot machines, arcade games, attractions and their component sub-assemblies, related electronic and/or mechanical equipment.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, Internal Controls and company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain effective working relationships with Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission Representatives, particularly the duty to disclose and cooperate per IRGC rule 13.2(1)h.
- Maintain effective working relationships with other departments and employees.
- Ensures proactive customer service, personally resolving customer problems as required.
- Performs maintenance and/or repair as needed, or as directed.
- Move, convert, install and remove machines as required.
- Assists Slot Attendants with ticket fills and other small repairs per Internal Controls as needed or directed.
- Game Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance on arcade games, ticket redemption machines, and attractions to ensure optimal functionality. Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and technical issues.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to arcade game attendants and staff to address immediate issues
and concerns. Assist in training staff on basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks. - Repairs and Upgrades: Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and circuitry in arcade games and equipment. Install software updates and upgrades as needed to enhance game performance.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks on arcade games to ensure proper operation, sound,
graphics, and game-play. Maintain consistency in game performance and appearance. - Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to proactively address potential issues and extend equipment lifespan.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and procedures followed. Generate reports on game performance and maintenance status.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
- Be able to comprehend basic mechanical slot machine functions & perform minor mechanical repairs such as coin jams, hopper jams, etc.
- Be able to comprehend basic electronic theory & its practical applications.
- Be able to learn intermediate & advanced electronic theory & applications.
- Well-organized, produce legible & accurate paperwork & possess good cash handling skills.
- Able to independently diagnose a problemâs cause through observation and analysis of outward symptoms, then perform required repairs within established procedures, but using initiative as the situation dictates.
- Willing & able to work non-traditional schedules during special projects, particularly early mornings, nights, holidays and weekends.
- Act as technical advisor to the Gaming Operations Shift Manager and/or the IRGC on duty, as required.
- Able to work in busy, crowded and potentially stressful conditions, and able to remain composed when dealing with irate customers.
- Strong customer service skills, personality and orientation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to interact with guests, staff, and suppliers.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Generally light, with occasional medium and/or heavy work (must be able to lift up to 50 pounds).
- Able to spend extended periods standing, walking, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping and/or lifting.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
- Generally, works indoors, repeatedly exposed to high noise levels & cigarette smoke (in casino), as well as high voltages on some equipment. Some minor outdoor work is occasionally required.
