ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Provides counsel to senior leadership.

Identifies and analyzes legal issues, drafts key documents, presents clear recommendations to Industries Leadership Group and assures legal compliance.

Assists, represents or selects outside counsel to support the organization in business negotiations, business activities, and transactions.

Responsible for using specialized knowledge of national, state, and/or local laws to advise and represent the organization in criminal or civil proceedings and other legal matters.

Responsible for analyzing proposed and established legislation, preparing legal documents and reviewing company policies.

Researches and interprets existing law and regulations and anticipates changes to laws to guide informed decisions and reduce risk.

Prepares and reviews various agreements, contracts, and other legal documents. 

Uses a broad range of legal expertise and current knowledge to advise leadership on any regulatory changes or actions that may impact the business.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire teams toward achieving organizational goals.

Creative problem-solver with a passion for innovation and a commitment to staying abreast of emerging trends and advancements in applicable case law.

Experience in budget development, allocation, and management to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficient resource utilization.

Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills to effectively manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers.

Ability to plan, execute, and oversee complex projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Ability to work with state/local/national regulatory agencies related to business transactions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A bachelor’s degree in any field and a Juris Doctorate (JD).  Requires State Bar membership in Iowa.

A minimum of 5-10 years in a legal capacity. Candidates should have a proven track record of success in the legal area. Experience in leadership and management roles is highly desirable.

An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
