General Laborer

Job Overview

The general laborer shall be responsible for producing a variety of parts and components on automated and semi-automated machines with minimal supervision. This person shall ensure parts meet print specifications before allowing them on the fabrication floor. Various general duties shall be assigned when needed. The general laborer reports directly to the shop manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate any of several types of automated and semi-automated machines that are used to produce parts and components.
• Load and unload material and set up machines for production operations.
• Monitor the feed and speed of automated and semi-automated machines.
• Read and understand a tape measure, blueprints, and other shop drawings.
• Understand and use basic math.
• Conduct in process inspections of parts and components.
• Monitor machine performance and take preventative action as needed.
• Assist others in specialized welding work like grinding and tacking.
• Work independently or with a team to complete large and complex projects.
• Comply and maintain required company standards of quality and safety.
• Perform other general duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School/GED
• Previous industrial experience preferred
• Willing to train the right applicant
