Job Overview

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a Graduate Assistant- in the Office of Vocation, Career Services, and Community Engagement for the 2022-2023 term, with a potential renewal for 2023-2024.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Office of Vocation, Career Services, and Community Engagement and other areas of Student Life
  • Organize and update marketing to promote services, opportunities, and events through social media, and digital and print materials
  • Facilitate monthly Alumni Spotlight campaign in collaboration with Alumni and University Relations departments
  • Coordinate student recruitment, placement, and oversite for the Off-Campus Work Study Program; and identify Dubuque-area non-profit organizational sites
  • Assist in individual and group Resume and Cover Letter critiques and workshops and support the Mock Interview program
  • Utilize Student Success software to assist with tracking and data collection of co-curricular activities and job/internship opportunities for students/alumni
  • Assist in evaluating programming to ensure that it is equitable and inclusive of the UD community
  • Assist with general office support including maintenance of the Success Shop
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required and the position is conditional based on acceptance into University of Dubuque Masters’ program
  • Proficient computer skills (Excel spreadsheet, Outlook, Data entry technology, PowerPoint, Word, Internet, Search engines, and social media)
  • Flexibility with schedule as need arises (ex. evening or weekend commitments)
  • Utilize excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal
  • Ability to work with a variety of students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community professionals
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple ongoing projects at a given time

All graduate tuition is waived for the student for the term in which they serve as a GA.  In return for a waiver of tuition, the assistantship recipient agrees to provide service to the University equivalent to twenty (20) hours per week.
