Job Overview

Summary

The successful candidate will work with the manager and greenhouse specialist team to care for a variety of leafy greens, strawberries, and tomatoes in an environmentally controlled hydroponic greenhouse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Boxing/Labeling/Packaging produce - preparing orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy and quality standards are met
  • Maintain accurate records of harvest logs, inventory logs, shipping documentation, etc.
  • Assist with social media content and interact with our Hilltop Greens customers
  • Transplanting leafy greens, tomato and strawberry plants into larger grow out systems
  • Harvesting, pruning, and training plants
  • Washing grow rafts, totes, buckets, floors, tables, harvesting tools, etc. daily/weekly
  • Maintaining a very clean growing environment, sweeping and shop vacuuming
  • Logging tasks and maintaining records
  • Monitoring our Integrated Pest Management Program and logging data
  • Other duties as assigned or required

  • Experience with hydroponics, including drip, ebb and flow, DWC, and NFT systems.
  • Some knowledge and passion for hydroponic plant production (vine and leaf crops)
  • Qualified applicants will also possess excellent communication skills, be self motivated and be a team player

Education and/or Experience                                                   

  • Associate's degree
  • Or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training
  • Must have the communication skills appropriate for the jobAbility to follow instructions

Language Skills                                                

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability                                             

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
