Summer of 2023 Internship Project
McGraw Hill is seeking two interns with an interest in quantitative social science with an emphasis on public policy, specifically, public education. COVID-19 has exacerbated student performance gaps across reading and math that are highly correlated with differences in family socio-economic status. The purpose of this study is to examine reading and math scores across the McGraw Hill core curriculum customer base to identify the level of correlation between poverty and student performance compared to the expected level of performance based on the demographic profile of public school district across the country.
This study will emphasize CA, TX, and FL, but will also include prominent school districts in other states, as time allows.
The successful applicants, envisioned to be a team of two, will demonstrate communications skills, quantitative skills, curiosity, confidence, and energy – all to an above average degree. This team will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer of the McGraw Hill School Business Unit and will meet periodically with the President of the business.
Requirements:
- Current enrollment in a Graduate Program with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Demonstrated involvement in extracurricular activities, clubs, etc.
- Major must be in Anthropology, Public Policy, Political Science
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
