Job Description
Perform and oversee various cleaning, maintenance and monthly check list duties to keep the distribution center and corporate office area clean, maintained and organized both inside and out. Will assist with directing duties to warehouse utility worker and maintenance associates. Based on need/cost, will either recommend or make decisions to purchase equipment such as floor scrubbers, forklifts, batteries, pallet wrappers, balers, building fixtures, snow plows, etc. Will also be responsible for obtaining quotes for lawn care and snow removal needs.
Qualifications
- 18+ Years of age due to OSHA requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Small maintenance and minor repairs on trailers such as fixing plywood in trailers, replacing trailer tail lights, marker lights and making other small repairs as necessary
- Maintain conveyors such as realign eyes, replace couplers and rubber bands and replace rollers and clean eyes on conveyor
- Determine equipment/maintenance needs, research cost and make recommendations for purchase/repairs. For expenses less than $500, proceed with needed repair or purchase.
- Identify vendors for lawn care and snow removal needs, obtain pricing information and make recommendations based on same.
- Replace fluorescent bulbs and clean light fixtures and exhaust fans
- Check operation and lubricate edge-of-dock plates
- Load and bale cardboard and shrink wrap
- Miscellaneous lawn & garden maintenance and removal of weeds, bushes, trees
- Light facility maintenance such as painting, minor plumbing, electrical work and simple construction
- Maintain cleanliness of outside yard area, keep free of clutter
- Keep sidewalks and emergency exits clear from snow using snow blower, shovels, or ATV
- After measurable snowfall, report to work at 5:00 am to clear snow
- Work in warehouse as needed, may sort inter-stores, unload trailers, etc.
- Keep the warehouse clean and orderly
- Assist warehouse manager by providing information regarding utility worker and maintenance associates performance for use in annual evaluations and/or needed corrective actions.
- Other tasks as assigned by management
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Experience in constructing, electrical, plumbing, maintenance, and general repairing
- Ability to use power equipment such as saws, baler, sweeper, pallet jack and forklift
- Basic math and computer skills
- Good problem solving and reasoning skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and flexible to perform duties as volume deems necessary
- Good organizational skills and detail oriented
- Exhibit a high level of dependability and integrity
Physical Demands
Frequent physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, standing, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, dexterity and light grasping. Occasional physical demands include lifting up to 75 lbs. and climbing stairs. The associate is required to talk and hear. Must be able to work required shifts and maintain attendance standards. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. The associate must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer, and a RF handheld scanner.
Work Environment and Working Conditions
Work will normally be performed inside of a warehouse facility but will also include outside duties where temperatures can vary from below zero to 100 degrees. The work environment is usually fast paced with regular deadlines. Extreme noise and vibrations may occasionally be experienced. Associates may be subjected to hazards such as burns, cuts, strains, electrical, explosive, and mechanical. Due to the nature of the work, associates may be exposed to atmospheric conditions such as dust fumes, odors, and poor ventilation. For the safety of our associates, all associates are required to wear protective steel toed shoes as well as other protective devices that management deems appropriate.
