Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Exemption: Salary- Exempt

Location: Roosevelt St Ext. Office-Dubuque, IA

Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 Annually + Up to 10% Bonus

Shift Time: 1st Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday (some weekends & off/split shifts)

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Job Description:
Klauer is seeking a solutions-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to design and develop tools and machinery for product manufacturing and ensure their proper installation and operation. The engineer will prepare operations manuals, train personnel, and stay current with advancements in manufacturing technology to implement new processes. This role involves conducting performance and failure analyses, collaborating with clients and stakeholders to resolve product issues, and developing strategies to enhance product quality and customization. 

What does Klauer ask of you? - Essential Duties of the Manufacturing Project Engineer Position:

  • Designs tools and machines used to manufacture products. 
  • Prepares operations manuals for new or existing equipment. 
  • Installs new equipment and ensures that it operates correctly; trains others to operate new machinery. 
  • Maintains knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology, equipment, and applications; applies this knowledge to recommend and implement new technology and processes. 
  • Conducts or assists with performance and failure analysis of defective products or materials; identifies, recommends, or executes corrective actions. 
  • Collaborates with clients, customers, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve problems with delivered products. 
  • Drafts and recommends procedures to establish or improve quality standards, standard repairs, process controls, and inspection methods. 
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase quality and customization of products. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Leads the design and implementation of complex manufacturing projects. Develops and implements predictive maintenance strategies to optimize equipment performance. 
  • Utilizes advanced mathematical and scientific principles to analyze and solve intricate problems. 
  • Attends industry forums and conferences, sharing expertise and contributing to thought leadership. 
  • Utilizes advanced tooling design techniques, such as material selection and coatings. 
  • Develops and implements advanced process control strategies to optimize production output. 
  • Implements advanced predictive maintenance strategies using data analytics. 
  • Trains applicable team members on advanced process optimization techniques and tools. 
  • Identifies and mitigates project risks and proactively communicates updates to stakeholders. 
  • Manages project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule & scope. 
  • Submits project deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standards. 
  • Determines the relative priority of the project with respect to greater initiatives. 
  • Designs and conducts controlled experiments or tests to validate hypotheses and verify proposed solutions. 
  • Leads cross-functional teams in troubleshooting complex problems, leveraging diverse expertise and perspectives. 
  • Develops and implements continuous improvement initiatives to drive incremental wins in quality, efficiency, and process. 
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to team members, sharing best practices and lessons learned from previous troubleshooting experiences.

Preferred Experience & Education: 

  • AutoCAD/SolidWorks or experience utilizing 2D & 3D design software.  
  • Financial acumen, project management, and resource allocation.  
  • BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering. In lieu of a 4-year degree, 7-10 years of relevant experience may be considered.
