Mechanical Engineer
Location: Dubuque, IA
A locally owned and operated Dubuque, IA manufacturer is growing and seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer. The ideal candidate is expected to have experience in process engineering including, but not limited to heat transfer, fluid mechanics, compression and automation & controls.
Compensation: $70,000- 90,000/year + full benefits package
Essential Duties:
- Engineer process systems to meet applicable codes and customer requirements.
- Read and understand engineering specification documents.
- Perform calculations and determine material requirements.
- Coordinate project milestones with all team members.
- Communicate and professionally interact with consulting engineers, vendors, and customers.
- Determine best practices and materials for production.
- Provide sales support to ensure specifications are met during the bidding stage.
- Maintain design and fabrication standards for piping, vessels, skids, etc.
- Provide accurate, timely information and documentation.
- Specify components to meet performance and engineering requirements.
- Provide technical support for service department and customers.
- Research and implement new products for continuous product improvement.
- Review and maintain vital project documentation.
- Perform all job functions in compliance with company safety program.
- Work toward continuous quality improvement.
- Stay current with changing technology, including software and position/industry specific programs.
- Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications / Education/Experience:
- Requires bachelor degree in a field of engineering or science
- Experience in process equipment engineering preferred.
- Knowledge in the fields of chemistry, physics, mathematics, machine design, material science, and manufacturing required.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to design equipment, to apply mathematical functions for design and problem solving, to read and understand engineering drawings, and to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical components preferred.
- Experience with computers, including Microsoft Office and general engineering software (AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks), small hand tools, calibration tools, etc., required, as well as the mechanical aptitude to design, build, and repair industrial equipment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid drivers license required; current Professional Engineering license, or ability to obtain within an acceptable time frame
