Mechanical Engineering Design - Summer Internship

Job Overview

Hours: 30-40 hours per week in Summer 2026

Job Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineering Design Intern for Mi-T-M you will primarily assist engineers and drafters in the design and development of industrial equipment by creating CAD models, collaborating on prototype development, and documenting technical details, gaining hands-on experience in the design process.

Responsibilities:

• Utilization of CAD software to create 3D models, renderings and drawings
• Assist in the fabrication, assembly and testing of prototypes, including documenting test results and identifying areas for improvement
• Prepare drawings, bill of materials, and other documentation to clearly communicate design concepts and specifications to the product team
• Collaborate with engineers and drafters at various product stages, including concept development, prototyping and product launch
• Additional duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Degree program with strong understanding of engineering principles
• Must be proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD Inventor preferred)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must have excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Must be able to work at our facility in Peosta, Iowa

• Knowledge of 3D printing: including design, material selection, printer set up and maintenance
• Hands on experience and knowledge of basic hand and power tools used in the assembly of mechanical systems
