Job Overview
The Sisters of the Presentation in Dubuque, IA, are a community of women religious and associates committed to living our charism of radical hospitality. We are looking for a director of facilities management to oversee the maintenance, repair and overall upkeep of the buildings, grounds and physical infrastructure of the Sisters of the Presentation to ensure a clean, safe and functional environment for sisters, employees, and guests. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and direction to the maintenance, housekeeping, reception and transportation departments, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality service.
- Directs, supervises and participates in the maintenance of all buildings and grounds including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and utility.
- Ensures the upkeep of landscaping, sidewalks, parking areas, yards and all outdoor spaces.
- Oversees construction projects, renovations and facility upgrades, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and in compliance with regulations.
- Develops and manages the facilities budget, coordinates with vendors and oversees contracts.
- Establishes and oversees a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize equipment failure.
- Tracks and maintains the Sisters of the Presentation vehicles, ensuring they are serviced, inspected, and meet all safety and operational requirements.
- Works closely with other departments to address facility needs and ensure a comfortable and functional living environment for sisters, including set-up and tear-down for events and moving of furnishings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in a healthcare, assisted living or religious community setting.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, including excellent communication skills.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC systems.
- Ability to manage budgets and negotiate contracts.
- Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
