Job Overview

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent required in facilities management, public administration, or related field and five years increasingly responsible experience in facility management or as a facilities director/plant manager for multiple buildings preferred. Experience in an educational environment is preferred. Must have sufficient training and/or experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities under listed duties and responsibilities required.  Experience in management of complex projects and assignments and knowledge of life safety codes and regulations is desirable. Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with diverse stakeholders and be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, autonomously while meeting challenging timelines.

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of college facilities and operations, ensuring safe, secure, and well-maintained environments. Collaborate across all departments to align facilities planning with institutional goals and foster a sustainable, future-ready campus.

Strategic Facilities Planning and Oversight

  • Perform oversight and planning for college buildings, grounds, and operations that reflect the college master facility plan and strategic plans.
  • Develop and implement long-term facility plans, including capital projects and maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to identify and address facility needs.
  • Provide administrative leadership for select events, projects and committees of the college.
  • Oversee childcare center operations and supervise center directors.

Facility Operations and Maintenance

  • Provide direction and oversight of facility improvement and renovation projects, working with engineers and architects and coordinating with local contractors and vendors.
  • Supervise Plant Services Directors to ensure all aspects of heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, building finishes, fixtures, building safety and fire prevention, grounds, receiving, shipping, and moves are maintained, functioning, and service-oriented.
  • Supervise Operational and Plant Services directors in planning for the resources and scheduling needs for the maintenance and repairs of all facilities and grounds.
  • Perform periodic inspections of all facilities to determine necessary infrastructure repairs and maintenance.
  • Review, coordinate and negotiate contracted services for physical plant and auxiliary services.
  • Promote the consolidation of resources to promote efficient management of campus operations.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient operating environment within legal guidelines and fiscal restraints.

    Financial Management

  • Provide input and manage assigned budgets within departments and divisions in compliance with the strategic plan and facility operations.
  • Responsible for operational budgets for facility and support service programs including Instructional levies and state support.

    Emergency Management and Safety

  • Monitor campus crimes, site security provisions, and college safety initiatives and collaborate with the Executive Director for Risk Management to assure College compliance.
  • Serve as directed on the college incident command system and identify, prepare and respond to emergency situations that impact the safety and security of campus services.
  • Coordinate with area law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency management agencies on facility updates and access in emergency responses.
  • Serve as college representative in county emergency management updates.
  • Responsible for reviewing weather conditions and making recommendations for campus closures, late start or early dismissal.
