Job Overview

PURPOSE:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the accounting department in creating timely and accurate financial statements.  This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities.  The Staff Accountant will report to the Controller and requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accounts payable – enter invoices, research issues and interact with vendors.
  • Verify and post financial data appropriately in the accounting system.
  • Reconcile credit card deposits and provide support for any issues noted.
  • Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Responds to inquiries from internal and external sources.
  • Reconciles and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Process third party Contract Labor payments including review of and collection of insurance certificates and contracts.
  • Design, prepare and maintain spreadsheets using basic mathematical calculations.
  • Collect W-9 forms and enter Sales Tax Exemption Certificates of vendors/suppliers.
  • Assist in monthly and year-end close.
  • Participates in the annual audit of the financial statements.
  • Others as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2-4 years of combined accounting or finance experience.
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time successfully.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working conditions are fast paced and highly variable. Duties are generally performed in an office environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to process information through computer system and to communicate with associates and guests using the ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.  The employee frequently is required to stand, sit, and walk and move about the facility performing the job duties.
