Montessori Toddler Teaching Assistant

Job Overview

We are looking for a responsible, and caring individual to join our toddler classroom team and be a part of our compassionate and creative staff!  Experience working in a childcare setting is preferred, but we will train the right candidate.   Our toddler classroom has 12 students, ages two through young three along with one lead teacher and two assistant teachers.  This position does require you to work with older children ages 3-5 at times throughout the day (lunch, extended care).

Assistant responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Providing support to lead teacher.
• Help instruct, guide, and supervise children during the day.
• Follow Iowa Department of Health and Human Service Childcare guidelines, which includes passing background check, being fingerprinted, and completing necessary trainings.  Must become CPR/First Aid certified if not already.  Dubuque Montessori pays for all required trainings.
• Help to prepare daily snack, assist with supervision at snack and lunch.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Dubuque Montessori runs on a similar calendar to Dubuque Community Schools.  We are only in session late August through the end of May.  All summers and holidays off.  We follow Dubuque School weather cancellations, but not 2-hour delays.    This position is for a M-F schedule, at least 8:30-3:00, but would love to discuss a schedule that may consist of a few more hours!
