This position will be a primary contact for financial aid, providing information on the financial aid process to students, parents, faculty and staff. Working in a fast-paced, high-energy, one stop Student Services Office that provides comprehensive admissions, financial aid, career services, counseling, records and registration services to new and continuing students with a high-level of accuracy and exceptional customer service. Utilize strong problem solving and communication skills to assist students with a wide range of enrollment services questions.
Minimum of one year of post-secondary education in Administrative Assistant area with one year of relevant work experience or two years of related post-secondary education.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Supports in-person and virtual student services with a strong focus on customer service, accuracy, and quick response time for students, parents, community members, and staff.
Communicates and corresponds with new and continuing students to provide guidance and resolve situations or challenges related to admissions, financial aid, career services, counseling, records, and registration.
Schedules and organizes appointments for a large staff team across the NICC district with accuracy and efficiency.
Assists students directly with navigating web resources (Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Master Promissory Note, Loan Entrance Counseling, Student eForms, etc.) to complete the financial aid process from initial application to final award.
Inform students and families of the availability of federal, state and institutional financial aid and the eligibility requirements.
Provide administrative support for financial aid processing in compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as, institutional policies.
Responsible for electronically processing incoming paperwork and performing regular follow-up via email, text or phone calls.
Enters and maintains student-related information in a variety of customer/student management software tools and other related systems including, but not limited to, GSuite, Ellucian Colleague (Student Information System), SoftDocs (Electronic Files and Forms), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
Handles confidential or sensitive information with discretion and in accordance with student privacy policies.
Assist with student outreach efforts.
Work independently to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload and recommend changes in office practices or procedures to improve efficiency.
Schedule, organize, and complete special projects, as needed, for members of the department.
Attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Display proficiency in managing multiple tasks, prioritizing responsibilities, and safeguarding confidential information within a complex environment. Technology proficiency using various software applications, specifically, Microsoft and GSuite. Ellucian Colleague experience is extremely beneficial. Must have strong written and oral communication skills and competent proofreading skills. Must possess strong knowledge of office practices and procedures. Work effectively with a diverse student, staff and community population.
