Job Overview
At McCullough Creative, we design and build displays and exhibits that bring stories to life—for museums, nature centers, companies, and communities. Every project is one-of-a-kind, and no two days look the same. That’s why we’re looking for a Displays & Exhibits Project Manager who can keep clients and teams aligned, energized, and moving forward.
This role balances client service with internal coordination. You’ll be the go-to lead on the projects you’re assigned, making sure details don’t slip, communication stays clear, and deadlines are met. You won’t do it alone—you’ll have the support of our Director of Displays & Exhibits, our designers, and our fabrication experts — but it’s on you to keep the trains running on time, solve problems as they arise, and push projects across the finish line.
What you’ll do:
- Serve as the main point of contact for assigned display and exhibit projects, ensuring clients feel informed, supported, and confident.
- Drive project schedules, budgets, and deliverables—proactively flagging risks and solving problems before they derail momentum.
- Coordinate across internal teams (designers, engineers, fabricators, installers) and outside vendors to ensure quality and consistency.
- Learn and apply a working knowledge of exhibit materials, fabrication methods, and installation processes to effectively guide conversations and decisions.
- Get out of the office occasionally for client meetings and installations (mostly day trips; some multi-day installs).
- Uphold our standards for service, craftsmanship, and creative execution in everything you touch.
What success looks like:
- Clients describe you as reliable, organized, and a pleasure to work with.
- Projects hit deadlines and budgets — not by accident, but because you drove them there.
- Your communication keeps surprises to a minimum and solutions close at hand.
- You build trust with our creative and fabrication teams, knowing when to lean on their expertise and when to push for decisions.
What we’re looking for:
- Over five (5) years of project management experience (experience in exhibits/displays/fabrication is ideal, but adjacent fields such as construction, events, or agency work are also welcome).
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in advertising, communications, marketing, or a related field, or project management professional credentials.
- Strong organizational and communication skills — you’re the kind of person who thrives on structure and detail.
- A service-oriented mindset with the confidence to lead clients and teams toward solutions.
- Ability (and eagerness) to learn the technical side of exhibits and displays so you can represent our work credibly.
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills — this isn’t an “autopilot” role.
Why you’ll love it here:
We’ve been in business for over 40 years, but we’re not coasting—we’re growing, experimenting, and creating work we’re proud of. Our team is collaborative, talented, and hands-on. You’ll have the chance to manage projects that leave a lasting impact—whether it’s a museum exhibit, a branded corporate space, or a community installation.
This role offers the opportunity to grow into larger and more complex projects over time, shaping how we deliver unforgettable experiences.
