Public Health Nurse

Job Overview

Iowa County is seeking a full time Public Health Nurse to perform public health nursing services to individuals, families, and population groups in Iowa County. Nursing actions are directed toward prevention, assessment, risk reduction, and health status improvement. Nursing activities include but are not limited to monitoring health status to identify community needs and strengths, preventing the spread of communicable diseases, protecting against environmental hazards and injury, promoting, and educating the population in healthy behaviors, linking people to health services, actively participating in emergency preparedness response and recovery/resiliency, and promoting community partnerships. Responsibilities also include providing immunization services to clientele of all ages, providing general public health nursing assessment and care for individuals and families through home, office or telephone visits. Starting wage range for this exempt position is $33.00/hr. - $37.72/hr. A generous comprehensive benefits package will be provided.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a National League for Nursing accredited program, one to two years of professional nursing experience related to the position, current license to practice professional nursing in WI at time of hire. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communications skills, must be proficient in the use of personal computers and contemporary pc software, and have the ability to establish proficiency with Health Department database programs. Candidates must have the ability to transport self to required meetings or appointments that occur outside of the Iowa County Health Department. Final candidate will be subject to thorough background check.
