Job Overview
The Director of Social and Educational Programs is responsible for developing, overseeing, and evaluating a broad range of programs that support academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship. This role leads program staff, cultivates community partnerships, and ensures high-quality programming that meets the needs of children and teens in an inclusive, safe environment. The Director also manages grant funding to sustain and expand programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Prepare Youth for Success
- Plan, implement, and supervise daily programs and activities that promote positive youth development outcomes.
- Establish clear program objectives aligned with the Club’s mission and values.
- Provide youth with meaningful opportunities to engage in academic, social, and recreational activities.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive environment that fosters emotional, social, and educational growth.
Program Development and Implementation
- Design and oversee structured programs in education, social-emotional learning, and enrichment activities.
- Ensure all programs are culturally relevant, age-appropriate, and responsive to member needs.
- Supervise and support staff in delivering high-quality programs while fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Write, secure, and manage grants to sustain programming and expand opportunities for youth.
Relationships
- Internal: Maintain strong communication with Club staff, program teams, and youth participants to provide guidance, problem-solving, and mentorship.
- External: Build and maintain strategic partnerships with community organizations, nonprofits, businesses, schools, and parents to enhance program reach and impact.
- Represent the Club at community events and cultivate relationships with donors and stakeholders.
Additional Expectations
- Maintain safe, welcoming program spaces and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Track and report attendance, outcomes, and program impact for evaluation and grant reporting.
- Lead collaborative initiatives with community partners to strengthen youth engagement.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Programs and Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, nonprofit management, or related field required.
- Two or more years of experience working with youth required, preferably in under-resourced communities.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
