Job Description: Salesperson / Cashier
Position Overview
The Salesperson / Cashier plays a dual role in ensuring a positive customer experience at Stu’s Home Improvement Outlet. This position is responsible for assisting customers on the sales floor, driving sales through excellent product knowledge and service, and completing customer transactions quickly and accurately at the register.
This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Service
Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Assist customers in locating, selecting, and purchasing products.
Provide accurate product information, including pricing, promotions, and availability.
Promote store specials, add-on items, and warranty programs where applicable.
Handle customer questions, concerns, or complaints with patience and professionalism.
Follow up with customers when needed to build repeat business and long-term relationships.
Cashiering & Transactions
Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process cash, credit, debit, and financing transactions.
Issue receipts, refunds, and exchanges according to store policy.
Verify product pricing and ensure accurate discounts or promotions are applied.
Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts; report discrepancies to management.
Store Operations
Assist in merchandising, stocking shelves, and maintaining a clean, organized sales floor.
Tag and label products with pricing and promotional signage.
Maintain awareness of loss prevention and theft prevention procedures.
Support inventory counts, receiving shipments, and floor resets when needed.
Qualifications
Prior retail, sales, or cashier experience preferred but not required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable using computers, POS systems, and barcode scanners.
Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Lift, carry, or move items up to 50 lbs with proper equipment.
Bend, reach, and move throughout the sales floor as required.
