The Steeple Square Event Center is seeking a seasoned part-time Event Coordinator. This position will be held by a client-focused professional with a warm, can-do attitude. The candidate of choice will have excellent organizational and communication skills and demonstrate incredible attention to detail for elevating the client experience.
This position requires consistent weekend and evening availability. Candidates with previous experience (at least one year) in the wedding/event industry are preferred. Interested candidates must either live within a 30-minute drive from our venue in Dubuque or be willing to commute to the venue multiple times per week.
Job Summary:
Oversees and assists with rental events and activities in the Steeple Square Community Event Center, including Honkamp Hall and the Sisters of Charity BVM Community Center, which includes but is not limited to weddings, receptions, family celebrations, celebrations of life, community events, arts and culture events, business meetings, events and parties, and events with Steeple Square community partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up event spaces according to floor plans: tables, chairs, bars, stages, etc.
- Place linens, signage, decorations, and equipment per event specs
- Assist in unloading and positioning vendor equipment as needed
- Tear down and properly store all event items post-event
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of event spaces
- Handle furniture and equipment with care and attention to detail
Physical and Other Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
- Be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, bend, kneel, squat and twist
- Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule including nights, weekend and some holidays
Additional Duties Include
- Supervise and assist with all aspects of the event execution
- Ensure excellent client satisfaction
- Coordinate transition from event planning to execution with Events & Marketing Manager
- Provide leadership and guidance to venue staff during events
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in hospitality, hospitality management, event management, marketing or related field or equivalent experience preferred but not required
- Valid driver’s license
Pay:
- $25-$30 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)
