Job Summary

Operation Empower is seeking a compassionate Licensed Therapist for a part-time role (20–25 hours/week with opportunities for growth as our organization expands). You will deliver therapeutic services to clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, conducting assessments, creating individualized treatment plans, and providing evidence-based therapy. We value empathetic, culturally responsive professionals passionate about supporting recovery and community reintegration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments to evaluate clients’ mental health and substance use needs using tools like ASAM criteria.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing).
  • Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions to address co-occurring disorders and relapse prevention.
  • Provide crisis intervention to de-escalate situations and develop coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with case managers, psychiatrists, and community providers under HIPAA compliance for holistic care.
  • Connect clients to Dubuque community resources, such as recovery groups or housing programs.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential client records in compliance with Iowa regulations.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and professional development to maintain licensure.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field.
  • Iowa licensure (LISW, LMHC, or LMFT) preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in outpatient settings.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care.
  • CADC or IADC certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
  • Mandatory Reporter Certification (or obtain within 6 months, renew every 3 years).
  • Strong communication, cultural sensitivity, and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with community resources and electronic health record systems.
