Position Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY: Provide assistance to park patrons; perform maintenance of park and recreation facilities; and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

- Provide directions, technical information or assistance to public and park patrons.
- Document events or evidence, using photographic or audiovisual equipment.
- Collect information from people through observation, interviews, or surveys.
- Patrol assigned areas by vehicle or on foot.
- Enforce ordinances and rules.
- Check park building reservations.
- Rent out available facilities.
- Secure buildings and close parks.
- Apply basic first aid.
- File daily log sheet.
- Turn park lighting on and off.
- Report property damage and vandalism
- Respond to emergencies as needed.
- Perform basic electrical and plumbing repairs.
- Operate and maintain vehicles.
- Clean restrooms and park pavilions as needed.
- Prepare and deliver bank deposits.
- Use time and attendance software and other records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services which includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Active Listening - Listening to others, not interrupting, and asking good questions.
- Critical Thinking, Judgment and Decision Making - Thinking about the pros and cons of different ways or options to solve a problem and picking the best one.
- Oral Expression and Comprehension - Communicating clearly by speaking, listening and understanding what people say.
- Written Expression - Communicating by writing things for co-workers or customers.
- Deductive and Inductive Reasoning - Using and making general rules to solve problems and come up with answers from lots of detailed information.
- Safety and Security – knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Qualifications
-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a state driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with the public.
- Experience in grounds or facilities maintenance.
- First Aid and CPR certified.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties require working outside in inclement weather and evening, night and weekend work schedules.
