Position Summary
-
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under supervision, landscape or maintain grounds of parks using hand or power tools or equipment performing a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and sprinkler repair; maintenance, repair and upkeep of park facilities and areas maintained by the Park Division; and perform related work as required.

Job Duties
-
- Dispose of trash or waste materials.
- Operate grounds maintenance equipment; and manual and power tools.
- Drive trucks or other vehicles to or at work sites.
- Irrigate lawns, trees, or plants; and flower beds.
- Trim vegetation.
- Maintain equipment, vehicles or systems to ensure proper functioning.
- Cultivate lawns, turf, or gardens.
- Maintain sports field surfaces.
- Clean facilities or sites including buildings, restrooms and park pavilions.
- Remove debris from work sites.
- Use time and attendance software and other records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Equipment Operation – Knowledge of safe operation and maintenance of diesel, gas and battery powered equipment.

Maintenance - Knowledge of materials, equipment, tools and techniques to maintain park areas including push/riding lawnmowers, line trimmers and blowers.

Multilimb Coordination and Manual Dexterity - Using your arms and/or legs together while sitting, standing, crouching or kneeling; and holding or moving items with your hands.

Qualifications
-
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a state driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in public grounds or facilities maintenance.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties require use of physical strength and working outside in inclement weather. Occasional weekend work required.
