Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a Production Engineer for a confidential opportunity with a metal manufacturing company in Northeast Iowa. This is a hands-on, technical role focused on supporting shop floor operations, optimizing production workflows, and serving as a key resource for CNC machining processes.

The Production Engineer will play a critical role in coordinating production activities, reviewing technical requirements, and ensuring jobs are routed efficiently through the manufacturing process. This role works closely with machinists and leadership to troubleshoot issues, maintain quality standards, and support continuous improvement across the shop.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production control and workflow within the ERP system, ensuring new jobs are routed efficiently.
• Review technical prints and specifications and communicate machining requirements to the production team.
• Assign jobs to machines and operators based on capacity, capabilities, and tolerance requirements.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and resolve part quality concerns.
• Ensure adherence to established processes, including CMM inspection and tolerance verification.
• Collaborate with customers as needed to plan production schedules and technical requirements.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to machinists and production staff.
• Support process improvement initiatives to optimize shop efficiency and output.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in CNC machining, metal manufacturing, or a related technical/engineering role.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Extensive hands-on knowledge of CNC machines, tooling, and machining processes.
• Experience with CMM inspection and precision tolerance work.
• Solid understanding of production flow and manufacturing operations.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to guide and support production teams.
• Ability to make sound technical decisions regarding machine routing, setups, and production processes.
