What we are looking for
The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate handling of inbound and outbound freight. This role leads and develops warehouse teams across shifts, drives inventory accuracy and process discipline through effective use of WMS technology, and ensures operational performance meets both customer and company expectations. The Warehouse Operations Manager owns day-to-day warehouse execution—from staffing and scheduling through inventory management, dock operations, and customer onboarding—while partnering closely with brokerage, operations, carriers, and vendors to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-quality warehouse solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Team Supervision & Scheduling
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of warehouse associates across all shifts
- Build and manage weekly staffing schedules to meet operational demands
- Conduct performance reviews, address corrective actions, and foster a culture of accountability
WMS, Technology & Reporting
- Oversee inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and discrepancy resolution
- Manage WMS data integrity including receiving, locating, picking, and shipping transactions
- Drive continuous improvement in stock accuracy and warehouse organization
- Champion customer buy-in and adoption of WMS capabilities, serving as an internal advocate for system utilization across warehouse staff and external stakeholders
- Develop and present operational reporting and KPIs — including fill rates, order accuracy, dock-to-stock time, and throughput metrics — to internal leadership and customer partners
- Evaluate and recommend technology upgrades, integrations, and process automation opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency and visibility
- Partner with customers during onboarding and ongoing operations to ensure alignment on WMS workflows, reporting expectations, and data requirements
Inbound & Outbound Freight Coordination
- Manage dock scheduling to ensure on-time receipt and dispatch of all freight
- Coordinate with internal brokerage and operations teams on load timing and capacity
- Resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, and exceptions in a timely manner
Carrier & Vendor Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers and third-party vendors supporting warehouse operations
- Evaluate vendor performance and escalate service issues as needed
- Support equipment and service contract compliance, including spotting and hostler operations
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of warehouse management or supervisory experience, preferably in a logistics, 3PL, or transportation environment
- Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to manage and motivate frontline teams
- Solid understanding of inbound/outbound freight operations and carrier coordination
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain); experience with spotting/hostler equipment a plus
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations, sales, and vendor teams
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance
