Job Overview

Universal Tank & Fabrication is an industry leading manufacturer of pressure vessels and specialized fabrications serving customers throughout North America. We are currently seeking a full time Painter/Finisher in Dubuque, IA. Join the UTF family and become part of an organization that’s “Delivering on our Promise of Quality”.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Painting inside and outside of various vessels.
  • Brushing (Striping) welds with lining material as required.
  • Vacuuming out shot and cleaning tanks for painting.
  • Will perform inspections of finished paint and linings.
  • Complete finishing inspection report.
  • Must wear a respirator for certain functions of the job.
  • Must be able to learn new methods of painting and be able to teach others any of those learned skills.
  • Visual inspection of all welds to determine removal of weld splatter.
  • Installing of internal/external components.
  • Package and load product for shipment.
  • Basic crane operation and material handling (material handling).
  • Sanding welds to meet ASME codes.
  • Plug all opening and test all pressure tanks. (Hydro)
  • Prepping tank and parts for blast.
  • Steel shot or glass bead blasting of tanks.
  • Sweeping floors and other miscellaneous cleaning as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic crane operation and material handling (material handling).
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the willingness to work with others in a team environment.
  • Exceptional listening skills and able to take direction well from others.
  • Read tape measure to 1/16".
  • Basic hand tool knowledge.
  • Climb ladders, wear a respirator and fit through manways as required.
  • Willingness to fill in wherever necessary which includes occasionally working different shifts.
