About the Opportunity
Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a confidential opportunity with a manufacturing company in Northeast Iowa. This role supports the design, development, and launch of industrial equipment including pressure washers, air compressors, generators, and related products.
The Electrical Design Engineer will manage projects through the full product lifecycle—from initial concept and prototyping to testing, certification, and production release. This position also plays a key role in maintaining product certifications and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and release engineering documentation including wiring diagrams, BOMs, and test procedures
- Manage project timelines across concept, prototyping, testing, and product launch phases
- Communicate technical specifications with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Identify, source, and specify electrical components
- Partner with purchasing to support supplier selection and relationships
- Support prototype builds and testing to ensure performance, safety, and reliability
- Recommend design improvements to enhance product quality and reduce costs
- Develop and modify PLC control programs using manufacturer software
- Conduct certification testing and maintain documentation for standards such as UL and CSA
- Support audits and ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements
- Represent the company in technical and certification-related discussions or committees
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial product design preferred (pressure washers, compressors, generators, etc.)
- Familiarity with UL and CSA standards strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of electrical components and applications
- Experience with AutoCAD for wiring diagrams and schematics
- Ability to use electrical testing tools (e.g., multimeter) for troubleshooting
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented and comfortable in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
