About the Opportunity

Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker for a confidential opportunity with a manufacturing company in Northeast Iowa. This role is responsible for building, maintaining, and troubleshooting precision tooling used in production processes.

The Tool & Die Maker will work hands-on with dies and tooling from initial build through maintenance and repair, ensuring quality, accuracy, and long-term tool performance. This position also provides leadership support to apprentices and machinists during die builds, making it ideal for someone with strong technical expertise and a mentoring mindset.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, part prints, and detailed drawings to build and repair tooling
• Lead and participate in the construction of dies, including trim and form dies
• Provide direction and support to apprentices and machinists during die builds
• Develop trim edge forms to meet part print specifications
• Make machining and tooling decisions related to die components and block machining
• Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust tooling to maintain production quality
• Perform preventive maintenance on tooling and related equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Support additional shop duties as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a Tool & Die Apprenticeship required
• 5+ years of Tool & Die experience
• Strong blueprint and technical drawing reading skills
• Experience with manual and/or CNC machining processes
• Knowledge of progressive, trim, and form dies
• Technical or trade school education preferred but not required
