Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

Facilitate the execution of daily Instrumentation & Electrical work, project work and plant turnarounds (outages) through planning, estimating, and scheduling activities.  Utilize the plant’s CMMS (Maximo) as the primary tool to plan, estimate, resource, and schedule work orders to facilitate the efficient and effective completion of requested work.   Responsible for ensuring that complete and accurate records are kept of all maintenance activities; creation and auditing of PM/PdM routines, and tracking of relevant maintenance metrics (KPI’s).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 6+ years of experience in the Chemical Processing Industry (Gas processing experience is a plus).
  • 3+ years of experience in daily maintenance and periodic turnaround (outage) planning.
  • Expertise in developing detailed R&M plans for complex electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems is required.
  • Must possess strong people skills and be able to coach, mentor and influence others.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs. Hours and days worked dependent on operational goals and mission goals.
  • Must be a self-motivated and promote continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects, company initiatives, and departmental goals while meeting daily responsibilities.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop detailed repair plans by conducting field inspections (walking prospective jobs), utilizing standard work plans or technical documentation, and/or collaborating with Craftsmen, Operators, and Supervisors.
  • Specify and procure required R&M materials by engaging Purchasing and Storeroom personnel as well as outside suppliers to properly resource all routine work orders.
  • Gather input from team members, contractors, and suppliers to support the development of an on-going baseline schedule, and the weekly updating and publication of this schedule.
  • Must have personal expertise in all areas of the plant’s CMMS system including Equipment, Work Orders, Plans, Predictive/Preventive Tasks, Inventory, and Purchasing. Utilize the CMMS as the primary tool in establishing and tracking required site performance metrics (KPI’s). Keep up-to-date on training, and software changes.
  • Contribute to the planning, procurement, and coordination for special projects, overhauls and plant turnarounds in order to meet deadlines, manpower requirements, and target costs.
  • Provide guidance in the troubleshooting and lead the repair planning for equipment performance issues.
  • Provide leadership in the stocking, procurement, and tracking of critical spare parts.
  • Work with the Maintenance, Technical, and Operations Managers to establish, track, and achieve equipment reliability goals and objectives for the site.
  • Provide direction in developing and establishing maintenance & operational procedures based on regulatory directives, manufactures specifications, and industry best practices to support on-going reliability improvements.
  • Work with the Maintenance Clerk and Supervisors to organize and maintain the department’s technical library.
  • Read, interpret and apply technical publications, manuals and other documents.
  • Provide direction in the development and conduct of the site’s craftsman training program.
  • Provide direction in the enhancement of the plant’s PSM compliance and adherence to codes and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Regularly Communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns and questions.
  • Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.

 

EXPECTED RESULTS 

  • Responsible for maintaining a backlog of pre-planned work to provide alternatives to support production changes, or unscheduled outage work.
  • Participate in safety and environmental initiatives – contributing to overall employee and community safety while ensuring compliance of state and federal regulations.

About the Company

East Dubuque Nitrogen Fertilizers, LLC, located in East Dubuque, Illinois, uses low-cost, North American natural gas to produce nitrogen fertilizer. The plant primarily includes a 1,025 ton-per-day ammonia unit and a 1,100 ton-per-day UAN. The facility is located on a 210-acre, 140-foot bluff above the Mississippi River with access to the river for loading certain products.
