EHS Engineer

Job Overview

Specialized Recruiting Group is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization to find an experienced EHS Engineer. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with operations and taking ownership of environmental compliance, workplace safety, risk management, and continuous improvement across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain company-wide EHS programs and ensure OSHA and environmental regulatory compliance.
• Manage environmental permits, including air, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste.
• Prepare regulatory reports such as Tier II, TRI, RCRA Biennial, NPDES, and air emissions.
• Oversee hazardous waste, chemical management, wastewater compliance, and environmental monitoring.
• Conduct environmental and safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and JHAs.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Develop and conduct employee EHS training and emergency response programs.
• Track EHS metrics and identify opportunities to improve safety and reduce environmental impact.
• Work closely with operations and plant leadership to identify and reduce EHS risks.
• Serve as a technical resource during regulatory inspections and audits.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Experience with hazardous materials, wastewater, air emissions, chemical management, or environmental permitting.
• Manufacturing experience in metal finishing, plating, coating, anodizing, or similar processes is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of RCRA, CAA, CWA, EPCRA, SPCC, and OSHA.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and training skills.

Certifications

• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry required or ability to obtain.
• HAZWOPER 40-Hour preferred.
• ISO 14001 familiarity preferred.
• CHMM, REM, or CSP certification is a plus.

Work Environment

Hands-on position working in both office and manufacturing environments, including exposure to noise, heat, chemicals, and industrial processes. PPE is required, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
