Controller

Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking candidates for a Controller position with an established company in the Dubuque area. This individual will oversee daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and accounting staff while working closely with company leadership.

This position offers an opportunity for an experienced Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant looking to advance their career. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and the ability to manage multiple accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Manage general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
• Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Monitor financial activity and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate billing and other accounting functions.
• Work with external accounting professionals on tax preparation.
• Supervise accounting staff and support daily operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
• Provide financial information to support business decisions.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Previous accounting experience, preferably in construction, contracting, or a related industry.
• Experience with general ledger management and month-end close.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Ability to analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies.
• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
