Bodine Electric Company is seeking a full-time Director of Human Resources to provide leadership, coordination and management of all human resource aspects at our two US facilities. This position will be located at our manufacturing facility in Peosta, Iowa and report to the President of the company.

Our corporate headquarters in Northfield, Illinois is home to our design engineering teams, research and development labs, our sales support and marketing team, and our electronics products manufacturing. Our Suzhou, China facility supports engineering design, component manufacturing, stator winding and Asian sourcing.

Peosta, Iowa is the home of our main component manufacturing operations, winding, final assembly and shipping operations where we utilize the industry’s latest CNC machines, and assembly technologies. Operations are supported by a manufacturing engineering, supply chain management, and customer service teams.

We offer thousands of standard and custom designed AC, Brushless DC and Permanent Magnet DC drive solutions to support some of the following markets; Healthcare, Oil and Gas Production, Packaging, Recreation, Warehouse Handling, Agriculture, Transportation, Construction and Printing.  

Job Specifications

  • Responsible for identifying legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions (e.g. EEO, ERISA, FLSA), trainings management and monitoring company policy to ensure compliance.
  • Administers employee relation programs related to training and development; productivity, recognition, and morale; disciplinary matters, disputes, and investigations; and performance and talent management.
  • Serves as a resource for both management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts, and helping to resolve work-related issues.
  • Negotiates, develops, and interprets language for bargaining unit contract with labor relations personnel.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Reviews benefit programs and makes recommendations to top management in order to stay competitive.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; maintains handbook and job descriptions.
  • Participates in establishing wage and salary structures, pay policies, and evaluation of performance.
  • Participates in the development of training and safety programs in context of compliance with government regulations.
  • Interfaces with all levels in the organization to support human resource functions.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all salaried employees.
  • Participates in maintaining the company's quality system and adheres to standard operating procedures as applicable.
  • Ensures that all employees are trained to follow company work procedures and policies, including all company safety polices.
  • Oversees miscellaneous activities to foster a positive work place and takes an active role in creating a safe and healthy working environment.

Skill Set

  • A. degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
  • 5 or more years of progressive responsible human resource experience.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment highly desired.
  • Experience with labor relations required.
  • Must possess proven leadership abilities including strong interpersonal skills along with complex problem solving capabilities.
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to motivate, influence and train employees.
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a family business culture.
