Area Residential Care is seeking a Recruiter/HR Generalist with full-cycle recruiting experience, from sourcing and attracting candidates to interviewing, hiring and retaining top talent. We support individuals with intellectual disabilities, and our HR team is a critical part of achieving our mission. As part of our team you will recruit professionals that provide direct support to our consumers and lead the on-boarding process.

The Recruiter is responsible for collaborating with the HR Director to meet the needs of the agency and forecast future hiring needs. The selected candidate will attract talent using various sources, such as social media networks and employee referral programs. The Recruiter will ensure our agency attracts and hires the best talent while growing its candidate pipeline.

Talent Acquisition responsibilities include:

  • Implement overall recruiting strategy,
  • Community outreach,
  • Prepare recruiting materials and post jobs to appropriate job boards and social media recruitment sites, and
  • Screen active and passive candidates and conduct interviews, using various tools to assess candidate skills and aptitude.

Highly qualified Recruiters will have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration with relevant work experience; an equivalent combination of education and work experience is also acceptable. Your ability to develop collaborative relationships will help you stand out, and you will love to work independently as much as part of a team dedicated to supporting our employees. In addition, you will:

  • have experience with an Applicant Tracking System and/or other HR databases and software systems,
  • have excellent communication skills,
  • demonstrate a knack for organization and attention to detail,
  • be highly proficient in Microsoft Office/Office 365,
  • exercise tact and confidentiality,
  • have a working knowledge of federal/state employment law and HR best practices,
  • be well versed in talent acquisition, on-boarding, and retention processes, and
  • have at least one year of experience in Recruiting and/or Human Resources.

Area Residential Care is a private, non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization, created in 1968 by a group of parents and other interested parties. Its mission is to empower people with intellectual disabilities to achieve their highest quality of life. From its inception, Area Residential Care’s purpose has been to provide community-based services for persons with intellectual disabilities. The organization has grown over the past 40 years to serve an average of 250-275 people with disabilities annually; providing residential, vocational, and day services in Dubuque and Dyersville communities.
