Area Residential Care supports individuals with intellectual disabilities in residential and day services settings. The Education Specialist provides training to employees to prepare them to successfully support our consumers in their daily living and enable to them to achieve their highest quality of life. Due to career advancement, we are currently seeking two full-time Education Specialists. Responsibilities include:
- Develop pre-service training schedules for new employees;
- Provide update and enrichment training to all staff;
- Provide on-the-job feedback to new and veteran staff;
- Track and maintain training records; and
- Assist in the development and teaching of adaptive intervention techniques.
About you: Qualified applicants will have:
- An Associate degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related human services field is preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered;
- Demonstrated ability to train others;
- Experience providing direct support, prompts, etc.;
- Professional communication skills;
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office/Office 365;
- Familiarity with learning management systems, i.e. Relias;
- A valid driver's license and driving record that meets agency authorized driver criteria.
Highly qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related human services field and previous experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities. Evidence of success in working with adult learners is a plus. Current certification as a CPR/First Aid and/or Nonviolent Crisis Intervention trainer is highly desirable; trainer certification in these topics will be provided if needed.
