Position Overview:
The Quality Control Inspector serves a key function to ensure all of our finished product is of the highest standards and meets and/or exceeds all specifications for our customers that are serve by our Dubuque, Iowa manufacturing location.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to manufacturing floor supervision and management, the Quality Control Inspector responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Inspects and tests products for quality defects in the manufacturing process and reports issues and concerns to the appropriate departments and individuals
- Ensures all equipment, guards and safety devices are in place at all time, and follows safe work procedures and safety rules
- Performs continual quality control checks to ensure product is running within specifications
- Audits various applications to product to ensure SOP specifications are met
- Monitor processes and report all problems to supervision through interaction and required paperwork
- Advise management and coach fellow co-workers on matters regarding quality issues
- Follow all SOP requirements and intercede or challenge proper personnel when defects are present in production runs
- Notify supervision of any incidences or recurring equipment malfunctions and correction action taken and of any poor quality material or supplies noted
- Interact and report to the Quality Manager in the creation and revision of SOP’s as changes and additions require
- Keeps work areas clean, safe and organized
- Utilize check sheets and graphs to track causes for production problems, statistical process control requirements and spoilage concerns
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment specifically related to quality assurance or production control
- Previous experience in keeping accurate records, the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at the same time
- Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support
Preferred Requirements:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing
Competencies:
- Strong problem solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approach
- Ability to work independently or with a team
- Must be able to look at new solutions and “think creatively and strategically” to solve problems
- Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etc.
- Demonstrated employee relations skills and the ability to motivate people
- Excellent time management and project management skills as well as the ability to multi-task
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Math and computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- The associate may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on occasion
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus
- The employee must be able to work up to twelve (12) hours shifts, both day and evening
Working Conditions:
- The majority of work will be in a plant environment but maybe required to move around to different parts of the manufacturing floor
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic in the plant
- The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures
- The noise level is frequently loud
