Job Overview
Job Goal | Assist students, staff and parents on a broad array of student service supports, including: student accounts, enrollment, financial aid, retention and front-line customer service within an integrated enrollment model. Collaborate with other service areas to facilitate consistent delivery of service and information. Refer students to appropriate college resources. Provide services to a diverse population whose needs and interests may vary. Consistently deliver service in a professional, efficient and friendly manner. Provide direction and support to internal staff to ensure accounts receivable and student account financial tasks are completed accurately and timely. |
Duties and Responsibilities | ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Serve as a first point of contact at the college and provide information on a variety of topics related to student services for students and staff, in-person and via various communication methods, including phone, zoom, chat and email. Conduct assessment of student needs and proactively engage students in conversation and financial planning related to their college experience; assist with FAFSA completion and advise on payment options and facilitate set up of payment plans for current student accounts. Act as primary point of contact for students, staff and college departments in accurately receipting, recording, and balancing tuition payments; reconcile daily cashiering sessions and prepare deposits. Organize and monitor student accounts, account receivable, and cashiering processes completed by other staff to ensure accuracy and timely completion Assist the Director of Financial Operations as needed with researching and resolving student appeals. Provide operational support, perform data entry, electronic filing to support departmental projects using GSuite, Microsoft, Ellucian Colleague, SoftDocs, and other software as directed. Must be familiar with college payment, billing and refund policies, institutional and FERPA confidentiality regulations; and Federal Title IV cash management regulations to aid in educating and advising students on policies related to their payment and refund options. Regularly upgrade and refresh knowledge and skills through required attendance at training sessions, student services functions and staff meetings. Manage and enforce policies and department controls to increase accuracy and efficiency. Assist with implementation and testing of new procedures and policies. Generate and assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports. Employ effective communication and public relations skills with both internal and external contacts. Function as a first point of contact for telephone calls, emails and walk-ins. Responds to questions and inquiries from students and the public in person, by phone, or via email. Ensure a high standard of customer service to students within an integrated enrollment model. Perform other related duties as assigned. |
Qualifications | Minimum of one year of post-secondary education in accounting, business, or related field with one year of relevant work experience or two years of related post-secondary education.
Excellent bookkeeping/accounting skills. Must possess strong computer/database management skills and be proficient in using a variety of spreadsheet, work processing and database software. .. Excellent interpersonal skills, telephone manners, and organizational abilities. Strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and competent proofreading skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality with student/employee demographic information. Work effectively with a diverse student, staff and community population. |
