Origin Design is continually seeking highly-qualified individuals to enhance our staff and better serve our clients. We are currently hiring a full-time Land Development/Municipal Engineer that will be part of our team to deliver solutions to our land development and municipal clients. The position can be based out of our Dubuque or Davenport office.

Position Requirements.
- Minimum 10 years of practical experience in the design of Land Development and/or Municipal projects, such as:
- Commercial, business, and industrial parks.
- Residential developments.
- Recreational facilities.
- Building site design.
- Hydraulics and hydrology.
- Stormwater management including sediment and erosion control (NPDES, SWPPP)
- Urban/rural roadway systems design.
- Public utilities including wastewater collection, water distribution, and stormwater conveyance systems.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the capability of obtaining multi-state licensure preferred.
- Experience in design and construction of wet and dry utilities, earthwork, and pavement.
- Experience in contract negotiation, project management, financial management, and business development preferred.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D platform.
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Position Responsibilities.
Technical
- Engineer of Record for Land Development and/or Municipal projects.
- Oversee preparation of detailed drawings and specifications including making design decisions.
- Review project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
- Prepare reports and studies.
- Perform design computations.
- Peer review work of others and provide mentoring.
- Performs construction administration including construction observation, construction submittal review, and pay request review.
- Provide technical mentoring to engineering and technical staff for employee development and perpetuation of expertise.
- Remain up-to-date in technical and regulatory aspects of relevant engineering disciplines.
Project Delivery
- Project Manager for Land Development and/or Municipal projects.
- Direct and oversee project team to assign tasks, manage schedule, and monitor progress.
- Monitor project budgets and prepare billings.
- Attend public and client meetings.
- Oversee submittal of regulatory agency permit applications.
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory and funding agency requirements and processes.
- Prepare professional services scope, schedule, and fees for projects.
- Develop proposals and statements of qualifications for prospective projects.
Leadership
- Contribute to the professional and personal development of staff.
- Develop, foster, and maintain strong and close client relationships with current and potential clients to develop new work.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships to build the professional practice of the firm and enhance its reputation with clients, the public, regulatory agencies, other consultants, and the profession.
