*Contract start and end dates are flexible and rotate on a bi-weekly schedule 1700 Hours Contract - Minimum of 36 hours/week Compensation: Living Allowance Total: $ 25,500 ($1,020 -taxes every 2 weeks over 50 weeks) + Education Award: $6,495.00* Closing Date: October 15, 2022 Description: AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs, made up of three primary programs that each take a different approach to improving lives and fostering civic engagement. Members commit their time to address critical community needs like increasing academic achievement, mentoring youth, fighting poverty, sustaining national parks, preparing for disasters, and more. In return, members receive a modest living allowance and an educational award that can be used to pay educational costs at eligible post-secondary educational institutions or qualified student loans. Members who are 55+ years of age can transfer award to child or grandchild. The Teen Creative Engagement Specialist will serve under the Arts & Cultural Affairs Coordinator, in partnership with community organizations specializing in Arts & Culture programming, to provide arts and culture-based community engagement and education opportunities to middle and high school-aged students. This AmeriCorps position will be responsible for program development, implementation and evaluation, and outreach to the community youth populations. AmeriCorps Members receive a bi-weekly living stipend and upon the completion of their contract, AmeriCorps member will receive education award in the form of an electronic payment through my.americorpgs.gov. Education award may be used to pay educational costs at eligible post-secondary educational institutions or qualified student loans. Members who are 55+ years of age can transfer award to child or grandchild.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Walk and carry materials up and down steps; stand and walk for extended periods of time; lift 30 pounds; bend, squat and kneel.

SERVICE SCHEDULE: Service activities will take place predominately at community events and activities and the City of Dubuque Annex and the Multicultural Family Center for office hours. The AmeriCorps Member must be able to flexibly serve between the hours of 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday with opportunities for running weekend programming. Members may be asked to serve at special events and activities within the grant partnership that may be outside of the member’s normal service hours. Members are required to attend the monthly training offered to all AmeriCorps Members within the AmeriCorps Partners in Program as well as the National Days of Service. Site Supervisors will plan a monthly service schedule in calendar format in which both the member and site supervisor will agree and adhere to. This schedule is meant to outline how the member will successfully get to the allotted hours within the term limits.
