Behavior Technician

The Behavior Technician is responsible for administering and implementing all applied behavior analysis (ABA) programs and services within the Hills & Dales Autism Services for clients with autism and autism spectrum disorders. The role requires collaborative working relationships with children, family/visitors, co-workers, physicians, and their office staff, social services, dietary/nutrition, school system employees, vendors/volunteers, outside agencies, students, and all necessary departments in the performance of operations & responsibilities.

Specific duties and responsibilities

  1. Provision of Care
    1. Follows care plan established by BCBA
    2. Seeks input from BCBA and suggests changes, communicates needs
    3. Consistently performs tasks and procedures safely, correctly and effectively to achieve optimal client outcomes
    4. Completes appropriate paperwork
    5. Monitors clients response to treatment
  2. Documentation
    1. Completed on day of service
    2. Documentation supports charges
    3. Documentation addresses goals and progress of client
    4. Includes documentation necessary for regulatory guidelines and reimbursement
  3. Charges
    1. Follows state and regulatory guidelines
    2. Demonstrates knowledge of state and regulatory guidelines
    3. Documentation supports submitted charges
    4. Completed on day of service
  4. Professionalism
    1. Demonstrates & carries out the mission & values of the organization and is a role model operating with the highest standards of ethical practices.
    2. Provides constructive suggestions and input to department needs
    3. Provides support for Autism HD department members
    4. Attends educational seminars and expands knowledge
    5. Maintains appropriate certifications
    6. Maintains confidentiality of clients per HIPAA policy
  5. Communication with staff
    1. Utilizes voicemail and email to streamline process
    2. Efficiently directs calls to appropriate person
    3. Provides information appropriate for persons involved
    4. Establishes & maintains a continuous methodology of communication with the Behavior Analyst.

6. Interpersonal skills

  1. Positive interaction with staff members & contributes to positive work environment
  2. Transfer of information to other staff members in timely, appropriate manner
  3. Plans day-to-day activities and communicates to others
  4. Works as a team for the betterment of the department
  5. Provides others with information needed to complete job

7. Organization

  1. Keeps area organized and communicates changes to others
  2. Able to multitask and follow through with assigned duties
  3. Prioritizes tasks and assigned duties

8. Computer

  1. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  2. Utilizes technology to decrease duplication of documents
  3. Proficient in use of fax/email

9. Serves on committees for the successful operation of the Organization and implementation of Hills & Dales strategies, as assigned.

10. Assures the confidentiality of all data, including client, employee and operations data. Follows confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA and agency confidentiality procedures.

11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, Experience, Licensure, certification and TRAINING required

  1. Free from a conviction or prior employment history of child or resident abuse or dependent adult abuse.
  2. Behavior Technician must have a Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology or another Health related field.
  3. Become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within one year of hire by passing the certification exam offered by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  4. A minimum of three months experience resulting in an established clinical background in the treatment of children with Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  5. Knowledgeable in area of applied behavior analysis.
  6. Must have a general working knowledge of computers and department specific software.
  7. Experience with services and resources available within the community for families and children, strongly preferred.
  8. Valid driver's license.
